My name is Eric Z. Beard. The ‘Z’ stands for Zane, in case you’re wondering.
I’ve been married to a wonderful lady named Kate for more than 27 years. We have 3 kids – Alex, Ian, and Oriana. Alex is in medical school at USF, Ian is seeking his first job as a web developer in Seattle, and Ori is serving in the Air Force.
After 11 eleven great years at AutoLoop, where I was the CTO, I decided it was time for a change and resigned at the end of 2016. I spent a few months at a financial technology startup in Orlando, but then decided to start my own business. I worked on Foundation Mercury over the summer with a small team of interns, and it was a great project, but then I was offered a very exciting opportunity with Amazon. I accepted that job, moved to downtown Seattle, and now I lead teams of Solutions Architects in the AWS Partner organization.
We lived in Florida from 2005 to 2017, having moved there from Virginia where I worked for several different tech companies (Brainbench, British Telecom, AOL, SusQTech). Before that, I served 9 years in the Marine Corps as a Russian Linguist and Arms Control Inspector. I was a Staff Sergeant when I got out in 2000.
I recently published a tech book called AWS Sysops Cookbook. Check it out if you are looking for a broad introduction to AWS services.
